A few questions that always get asked before a portrait session are “What should we wear?” and “Should we all try to wear matching outfits?”. My answer to the latter is that you should not try to match perfectly. This look is too contrived and is not nearly as fun as having each person express their own style, taste, and personality through their outfit. I would say, however, that it is a good idea to have a color scheme in mind so that the colors people choose to wear compliment each other. It is also important to skip clothing that has busy prints and logos on it. You want your family’s beautiful smiles to be the first thing people notice, not the huge brand logo or crazy floral pattern on your shirt. Here are a few ideas to help you along in determining what to wear for your clothing for your session. All of the featured items are from JCrew.
